Montreal's Alternative Lifestyles Community Centre Brings Kink On Campus For World AIDS Week

It was the perfect audience for a frank discussion: young, open-minded, sexually aware & interested in practicing & promoting safe sex.

The discussion? The McGill University Global AIDS Coalition's panel on “Positive Pleasures: the Stigma of Sex Work and HIV/AIDS.”

This year from November 15 to 18, McGill Global AIDS Coalition will be collaborating with other initiatives like CANFAR and Médecins Sans Frontières to conduct World AIDS Week on the McGill University campus. World AIDS Week is a series of events designed to educate the community about issues relating to HIV, global health, and human rights as well as raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Add our kinky community’s very own Contessa Alura & her ground-breaking Alternative Lifestyles Community Centre (ALCCVA) and there you have it – a winning mix to get the message out about alternative lifestyles.

Other panel speakers were McGill University’s Dr. Pierre-Paul Tellier, and Dr. Diane Meaghan, an author of books on the international sex trade.

Dr. Tellier, McGill University's Director of Student Health Services, spoke about the questioning gay and lesbian youth he sees in his practice that are all too often forced to turn to what he called “survival sex”, sex that such youth are forced to turn to survive when they end up on the street. He advocated for very early on sex education in our schools, where children would be taught to see the body as a positive thing, something to be proud of.

Dr. Diane Meaghan spoke of a host of very grim statistics around the world of sex trade workers, who in her words are “criminalized and stigmatized” and who are seriously at risk for HIV infections.

Center stage in both placement and also with the young crowd’s attention, Contessa Alura stood up to talk straight talk (so to speak hehe) about BDSM, what it means, about her experiences as a Pro Domme, and also about her ground-breaking ALCCVA organization, which she hopes will be a resource for a vast range of people from alternative lifestyles, from swingers to kinksters and more.

Here is a little blurb about the ALCCVA:

“The ALCCVA is a free and open space where like minded individuals can meet, share, learn, build and create meaningful relationships, discover, and seek information without fear, judgment, or discrimination.”

All this and more made for a very stimulation discussion and certainly raised a few questions in my mind.

Yes, your kinky intrepid & enquiring reporter (known as yours truly) noticed a few blank spaces that needed some filling.

So I mentioned the “b” word. You’re thinking beyaatch, right? lol
In this case the “b” word was bisexual.

As someone who identifies as being bisexual, I was struck by how this important segment in the sex trade and youth was simply not mentioned at all in this public discussion.

Ah there definitely was a reason for this, I soon found out.

Dr. Tellier admitted that bisexual youth were often left out and felt discriminated by both the gay/lesbian and straight communities and were marginalized.

Dr. Meaghan claimed that not many of the sex trade population identify as truly being bisexual. I really question this personally, as I know so many people in our local kinky community, and pro dommes included, DO identify as bisexual. When I chatted with the lovely Contessa Alura after the discussion was over, she told me she was glad that I brought up the bisexual question, during the Q & A part of the evening. She definitely had her own opinions on that.

I was happy to learn that the ALCCVA has a new & freshly growing group for bisexuals. Definitely something I’ll be checking out. We need more voices for our bisexual community in Montreal, that’s for sure.

Something else I brought up during the Q & A session was the tracking & statistics concerning Pro Dommes and the prevalence of HIV infections within that community.

The Contessa advised the crowd that sadly there is a great lack of tracking with this important question. In a perfect world, yes it would be great to have Pro Dommes studied seriously, with their need for protection and proper BDSM safe practices being promoted and encouraged.

As Contessa Alura said, Pro Dommes are starting younger and younger. As I looked at the young crowd around me, I thought about all the youngsters out there paying their way through university with Pro Domme sessions. This was the perfect young crowd to speak to, to reach that segment, I thought.

Contessa Alura mentioned something that I truly hope comes to pass one day. Just as the LGBTQ community is becoming more & more part of the mainstream and not as alternative as it once was, perhaps one day BDSM will also become part of the main and viewed as healthy and “normal”.

That would make for a Brave New World, indeed.

Kinky food for thought,
Angel

Under 40 ~ The New Kinky Bar

It was a blog post on KinkySexLink, the group blog that I contribute to, that triggered my thoughts on the age factor, in the local BDSM scene & BDSM/Fetish audiences in general.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the fetish events in town (that´s the fetish ones - not the BDSM ones) have a majority of young kinksters. And honestly, alot of the marketing is geared at that demographic.

I see more & more events and things being organized for the under 40 (and under 35 crowd). I even saw an interesting kinky vampire movie casting call out recently - and all the female characters were young.

Is that what people want to see? Do these young kinksters who keep getting younger, all want to run away from the older pervs?

I´ve heard that even expressed from friends as well, that emphasis on looking for someone/something young & hot.

I find this highly ironic in some ways. In my vanilla life, about 90% of my friends are younger than I am. I still feel like a kid myself inside. I have no problem relating to those younger friends. And they seem to get something positive out of my friendship with them.

I don´t feel old, but lots of segments in our society would classify me as old because I´m 40. What is 40 supposed to feel like? I don´t feel old. If anything, I actually felt freer & younger when I turned 40. It´s the fearless factor I think. Suddenly I didn´t give a damn about many things and just want to drink life in. It´s been great.

But I remember being in my 20s and thinking 40 was ancient. Hmm maybe I should scratch that. Looking back, I dated/saw/played with several men who were in their 40s, when I was in my 20s.

I see that age attitude today, in the local kinky scenes.

Oh yes, there is a good strong contingent of the 40 + and even 50+ crowd.

Personally, I feel comfortable talking to everyone young, old & everyone.

But I don´t understand this great prizing of the young, hot kinksters - why so many seek this young flesh to play with and preference for it. I prize maturity over youth. By then again, my ideas of beauty in general I have come to realize so many times, are quite different from the norm. I have been with many different kinds of men. Some men that I was seeing that made women jealous because they were perceived as being ¨gorgeous¨, others who may have seemed ordinary to different eyes. All of them had something special for me. Just as my taste in women is quite different as well.

So where is this kinky age thing going?

When all those aging kinky babyboomers retire from the scene, will the kinky youngsters inherit the earth?

Kinky food for thought.

Angel

Pain & BDSM Play: The Day After

Well here I am thinking about one of my favorite tasty subjects - pain.
Specifically on the subject of pain and BDSM play.

So I had a few questions turning around in my head and thought I would see if some kinksters would like to share their own answers with me.

Question:
What is the moment when you feel pain the most?

During bdsm play?
The moment you come down from subspace/masochistspace/otherspace?
The day (weeks etc...) after?

What kind of pain do you feel, during bdsm play...and after?
How do you feel the day after?

Which kind of pain, that you´ve experienced, lasts the longest?
A flogging?
A caning?
A paddling?
Some other kind of pain administered?

I was talking about how I thought a caning was something that lasts the longest, when I was having a chat with some fellow kinky people a little while ago. For me, a caning is a multi-layered kind of pain, which goes through many layers of flesh...and mind too, in some ways. A caning has a very particular sharpness to it that is unforgettable, I believe.

And what do you do to alleviate pain, the sensation of pain, afterwards?
Does anyone have any particular remedies that are proven effective?
Or are you of the school of thought that you would rather continue to suffer (and savour) the pain aftermath?

Well, kinky inquiring minds wants to know! :)

BDSM, S&M and Sex And The City

"La Douleur Exquise!"
Sex And The City

Season 2
Episode 24

Lately, I have been binging on
Sex And The City.

I have systematically been making my way through all the episodes.
Right now, I am up to Season 5.
Oh my, what a fun, girly-girl fest it has been! :)

I saw the movie this summer and had never watched an episode of the quintessential New York show before. So I promised myself that one day I would watch all the chapters of this hit show.

As I watched I realized, wow there are so many BDSM elements in
Sex And The City!

And then I hit an episode called
"La Douleur Exquise!" (The Exquisite Pain), about the hot new S&M restaurant that Samantha introduces the girls to, which leaves one thinking about the relationship between the girls and BDSM.

So I had a thought.

What if our
Sex And The City gal pals
were in the BDSM Scene?
What roles would they fit?

And this is what I dreamed up - just for fun!

Samantha (Domme and Dominatrix)

Samantha is such a natural Domme and would make a great Pro-Domme as well.
Men paying for the privilege of pleasing her in every way - and leaving them frustrated? Perfect.

Somehow I imagine a large stable of glistening hot studs seeing to her every sensual and sexual need. Perfect gleaming oily manflesh begging to serve their Mistress all at once - and currying for her favour. She would be the very Domme Queen in her FemDom QueenDom.

And if she worked as a Pro-Domme?

Just imagine what her professional dungeon would look like.
Acres and acres of wicked gleaming toys. Oh and I imagine there would be a queening station somewhere in there as well. Since she enjoys fine dining in more ways than one. ;)

Didn't she just handle that riding crop so easily in that S&M episode?
You just knew she was no stranger to the kinkier side of the toy closet.

Charlotte (The Service-Oriented and Role-Playing Slave)

I see Charlotte being the Perfect French Maid, providing impeccable service to her Master, while fetching his slippers, pouring his drinks or tea for his guests. Giving her Master a wonderful massage, drying him with fluffy towels as he steps out of his bath,

Charlotte would also make an excellent Pony Girl. She would love being kitted out in her shiny and spic & span pony gear, trotting for her Master. And being ridden very very well. Oh so very British as well.

Miranda (The Switchy Switch)

Miranda is the most ambiguous of the 4 gal pals, in more ways than one.
She can be very tough and act and dress just like one of the boys - her butch side. Or she can also show a vulnerable submissive side, that craves being take care of, treasured and loved.

I can easily see her topping (both men and women), and then easily flipping to bottoming to taste some exquisite pain herself.

Carrie (The Sexual Submisive)

Well of course Carrie would be a sexual submissive. She probably already owns the largest collection of "fuck me shoes". All those dreamy Manolo Blahniks, Jimmy Choos, and Christian Louboutins. Just add more boots - especially the thigh-high kind - and her wardrobe would be set.

And boy oh boy doesn't her character just scream submissive?
All her neurotic game-playing - I bet she would love to be taken in hand by the very firm - yet loving and sensual hand of a man.

OK none of this is at all politically correct. So shoot me...lol

But can't you just imagine their outfits??

They would be just....exquisitely perfect.

Angel ;)

Changing Cravings For Pain: A Survey

The Effect Of Pain On The Body - Long Term

This is something that has been on my mind quite a bit these last few months, and wanted to hear some opinions on the subject.

Burning questions for your consideration:
  1. For those of you into pain, have you noticed any changes in your pain tolerance as time goes on?
  2. As time goes on, do you find yourself craving more pain? Or less?
  3. What is the effect long-term of physical punishment on the body?
  4. For those who have years of experience, has your tolerance for pain grown...or diminished?
  5. What other factors affect one's tolerance for pain?
  6. What other factors affect one's craving and desire for pain?
I was talking to a fellow Switch at a Kinky BBQ I attended recently on the subject of pain. Judging from the scars he showed me on his face and body, this was someone who did have a good tolerance for pain. After the play session he had there, he mentioned how good it felt to feel the pain again and how much he had missed it, since it had been quite some time since he had experienced pain on a regular basis.

I myself definitely have a taste for pain, on both sides of the equation. Lately I have been finding my tolerance seems to have diminished, to my dismay. I don't know if this is just a temporary aberration happening for some reason. It made me wonder if the body stores a sense memory in the tissues and that perhaps at some point it becomes too sensitized. Is this possible?

Yet on the other hand, I was also talking to some Dominants (at the same Kinky BBQ) about how some people develop "leather asses", who require higher and higher levels of pain to be delivered on their bodies to be able to actually feel the pain.

Lots of food for thought.

FetLife: Kinky Playground For Adults

Recently I was introduced to a delightfully kinky social networking site called FetLife.com, by Lady Evyl, a very good friend of mine.

She had just told me about this wonderfully kinky and open site that looked like f*cebook, but geared to the fetish and bdsm crowd, when we ran into the founder and creator of the site himself, JohnBaku, at the recent Fetish Fool's Ball, where John and Lady Evyl recognized each other from the FetLife site and chatted for a moment.

Well, I became curious about the site myself and just had to check it out...and wow!

I've been having so much fun on the site making friends and contacts and getting to know lots of people from the bdsm community, especially those in Ontario. Many Fetish/BDSM Organizers are actually on FetLife.com and it's cool to get to know them on a personal basis. I even became friends with luna, the creator of the awesome The Iron Gate site, a huge BDSM resource site in so many ways, where I had one of my poems, tripping the wires of desire, published recently.

What's so great about FetLife is that you can upload graphic images AND graphic writing, which is a big no-no in the land of f*cebook.

People are so friendly there as well, and you don't feel like you're being cruised. Everyone on FetLife is a kinky pervert just like you, so it's a totally hassle-free environment.

I love what JohnBaku says on the FetLife.com home page:

"We are 100% Pervert Certified. Everyone who works on FetLife has been rigorously tested and found to be big pervs… and we think that is a good thing."

John himself is great. I've exchanged several messages with him & I've never seen a founder/creator of a site who takes the time to listen to suggestions personally like he does...and he even implements suggestions lightening fast!

FetLife is also the home of a very special project I've started:

BDSM Poets & Writers From Around The World

Kinky writers from all around the world have been posting some terribly tasty kinky, sensual, hot, wicked, evil poems and short stories that are a delight to read in our FetLife writer's group. And even better...fellow writers have been posting comments and feed-back as well, which has nourished a wonderful discussion with the group. Check it out!

Just had to share this exciting site with you all!

Kinky kisses from me,
Angel :)

Angel and her angels aka The Genesis of The Enigmatic Angel

How did The Enigmatic Angel Come To Life?

A long time ago, as a little kid I had a fascination with angels. Over the years, I collected all kinds of angels: angel artwork, angel stickers, Christmas Angels, white angels, blue angels, angels in every shape and size, angels angels everywhere. I guess early on I became my own guardian angel as well.

As the innocent angel that I was began to develop a taste for kink and other wonderful things, my angelic connection morphed into something new and strange. When I met my Master that I served for many years, guess what slave name he decided to give me? You guessed it: angel. So I became this new sweet kind of erotic angel, so eager to please and give pleasure. And I was this angel for many years, going by the name of angel, even after my Master stopped calling me by that name.

Life happened in the mean-time, while I was happily devouring all things bdsm.
After a few major life changes happened, one after the other, I began to question my path as a slave and evolved into a new creature: a switch. The urge came upon me one day to see that sweet look of adoration on someone else's face, not my own, as they looked at me.
Me. Now what a heady thought that was for me, indeed.

That was the day I evolved (in my mind, heart and soul) both privately and publicly, from the sweet little angel into Angel, the switchy sensual
femme who wanted to walk the intricate but tasty tightrope of both desires.

And so Angel came to be....and came.

After looking at the scattered pieces of my various bdsm poetry, short stories, odd journals and miscellaneous thoughts, I decided a blog was finally in order to gather the curious wanderings of my devious mind.

And here you go:
The Genesis of The Enigmatic Angel.
